Science at Key Stage 3
In Key Stage 3 we follow the EUREKA – Success in Science course. This course is closely linked to the Science National Curriculum and provides a fun resource through which our students can study science.
In Year 7 we will look in detail at the following topics:
- Energy
- Changing State
- Living Things
- Burning
- Electricity
- Plant Power
- Metals
- Forces
- Life Story
In Year 8 we will look in detail at the following topics:
- Acids & Bases
- Vital Organs
- Earth & Space
- Matter
- Nutrition
- Energy Resources
- Rocks
- Environment
- Light and Sound
In Year 9 we will look in detail at the following topics:
- Chemical Reactions
- Competition
- Balanced Forces
- Chemical Patterns
- Being Healthy
- Moving Energy
We will also spend some time revisiting some of the concepts studied in Years 7 and 8.
Assessment takes place throughout the year using topic tests and end
of year examinations.
Year 9 are externally assessed through National Tests.
