Conflict and Crisis in the Middle East, 1946 - 1996

This is Unit A16 in the Edexcel International IGCSE History course.

Syllabus content:

1946 - 1967

In 1920 Britain took over the running of Palestine under a League of Nations mandate. After the Second World War Jews began terrorist attacks on the British forces. Blowing up the King David Hotel in Jerusalem in 1946. This was the British headquarters. In February 1947 the British government announced that it was giving up its mandate and asked the United Nations to take over responsibility for Palestine (cartoon).
