A Message from the Principal

EDDIE LIPTROT, principal, dhahran british grammar school

At Dhahran British Grammar School we have a deserved reputation for working collaboratively, as a team and with the wider DBGS community. We love to process ideas, in order to gain levels of knowledge and understanding that could not be achieved by working alone. It also compels all of our community – students, parents and teachers – to recognise mutual progress and to celebrate success.

As part of The International Schools Group, we benefit from the current long-term drive toward continuously improving the quality of teaching and learning for our students. This engages us in the process of giving our students access to the knowledge and skills that will enable them to thrive in the interconnected context of the modern world. Walk around our school and you will see evidence of collaboration, critical thinking and creativity – making sense of learning within an environment where it is safe to try, fail, to keep trying and experience success.

Our teachers are learners too. Programmes of professional growth, based on best practice, provide the platform for school improvement. As an organisation, our school’s commitment to professional development is second to none.

DBGS is very well aware of the importance of the home-school partnership. We hold regular forums for parents to share our approach to learning and to discuss the advancement of each student. This is in addition to ‘information meetings’ and scheduled discussions. The social capital, which grows through strong and purposeful interaction, is nurtured through excellent relationships between teachers and parents at DBGS. This is also evident through the outstanding work of the Parent Volunteer Group, which supports our efforts in event organisation and fundraising activities.

In the last academic year, we enjoyed a broad range of successes across the age groups.  This year we can anticipate outstanding performance across the full range of school life. We will chronicle these events via our blogfacebook and through Twitter @ISGdbgsprin and would be pleased for you to follow our progress.

This academic year, 2016/17, DBGS has entered the second year of our A Level Programme. We have an excellent team of teachers who are supporting a high performing group of students, working toward entry to a range of top universities, across nations and including the best in the world.

Everyone associated with the school enjoys involvement in teamwork – students, parents, teachers, district colleagues and Board members. The welcoming atmosphere that we create presents a positive environment in which children and young adults can attain full learning potential. We look forward to welcoming you to our school.
