Dear Parents
Dhahran British Grammar School will be taking part in this year’s Jeans for Genes Day on Tuesday 22nd September. We will be holding a non-uniform day in Key Stages 1, 2, 3 and 4 to raise money for this charity. Students and staff wishing to come in jeans or their own clothes (rather than in uniform!) on this day may do so for a contribution of SR15 which will be collected by their form teachers during registration. All money collected will be sent to the Jeans for Genese charity.
Jeans for Genes is a national charity which raises money to fund care and support for children and their families affected by genetic disorders. It also supports research into the causes and treatments of these conditions, many of which can seriously affect a child’s life.
In the UK, one baby in every 33 - the equivalent of around one in every class of schoolchildren - is born with a genetic disorder or birth defect. Many of these have no current treatment and more than half of all childhood deaths in the UK are link to a genetic condition.
Children and staff are invited to wear their jeans on Tuesday 22nd December to help the charity reach its target of at least £3 million.
