Last week saw many parents visit school for three very successful ‘Back to School Days’. Not only did these events give parents the opportunity to visit their child’s classroom for the first time this year but also to find out more about the curriculum, daily routines and procedures. For me personally it was a great opportunity to meet with parents , many of whom have a long association with Dhahran British Grammar School. As well as spending time in their child’s classroom some parents were taken on a guided tour of the specialist facilities by their own children and as far as I know nobody got lost!
The feedback received from parents was very positive and hopefully any prior concerns had been dealt with during the course of the afternoon. Certainly the tea, coffee and biscuits baked by the Key Stage 1 children helped to soothe thepain of sitting on the small chairs for 30 minutes or so.
I think there is genuine value in events such as these and hopefully future events will see many more parents visiting school for both formal and social events.
