Climbing wall - new routes

The new yellow traverse

New routes

Tom, Ian, Matt and Mr H have been busy working on new routes on the school climbing wall in the last month. There are now several new, easy routes for beginners to climb, as well as 3 tough routes to provide a challenge for the better climbers. None of these have been climbed yet, although there have been some valiant attempts.

Tom (Year 11) set the yellow traverse you can see above. It is a tough, long traverse with several very technical moves. Ian (DEMS), who is 9 years old and one of our strongest climbers worked with Tom to put up the fingery and technical brown traverse. Both routes remain without a clean ascent.

Matt put up a particularly difficult route up the overhang inside the H. This has a fingery crux where the climber has to cut loose in order to gain a good jug. It finishes on the headwall on tiny holds to a huge reach.
