What’s happening in October? Here at Dhahran British Grammar School we pride ourselves on the wide variety of Educational Visits that are arranged for the students over the course of the school year. Our overseas visits have proved to be particularly successful leaving the students with experiences they will remember for the rest of their lives. The first overseas visit this year is to Barcelona later this month. Open to students from Years 7-11 the visit will give the students first hand experience of topics they have covered in History, Geography and Science, as well providing a great opportunity for them to practise their linguistic skills in real-life situations. We look forward to hearing more about the visit in next month’s Newsletter.
October also sees the first ‘official’ opportunities for you to meet the teachers to discuss your child’s progress so far this term. Details of these will be issued shortly and we look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible to school for what will hopefully be a ‘pleasant ‘experience for you with no real surprises.
We are now just a matter of weeks away from our visit by a team representing The Council Of International Schools. The team of eight members is due in school on Saturday 22nd November until the 26th November. As well as spending time in classes they will be given several opportunities to speak to parents, students and Board Members, particularly those that were involved in the various committees that have been meeting during the last year or so. Prior to their arrival in the Kingdom, the team will have access to various pieces of documentation compiled in recent months and so will arrive in school with a general picture of what DBGS is all about. We look forward to their visit and to working closely with them during their time in school.
Finally a reminder about our Coffee Morning on Saturday 11th October in the Sand Dome at 9am. I would like to see as many parents as possible being able to attend as I would like to use the occasion to meet and chat to as many of you as possible but also to discuss a couple of initiatives I feel would help reinforce the links between home and school and facilitate more parental involvement in school life. If you can make it there that would be great.
Warm regards
