Parent Class Represenatatives

At our Coffee Morning held on Saturday 11th October, I spoke briefly about a new initiative I felt would facilitate more parental involvement in school. This new initiative aimed at creating an effective forum for parents to interact and communicate with representatives of the school. I spoke about creating “Parent Class Representatives” and suggested that:

‘The main role of the “Parent Class Representatives” is to build strong working relationships among parents, teachers and the school, in support of students. Their role also is to explore ways of enriching school life by volunteering to help with school initiatives and events. They also have an important role as ambassadors for the school.”

Each Year will have two representatives, three in the case of Reception and one from Pre Reception.

Each “Parent Class Representative” will be selected annually by parents of that class. They must be mindful of the fact that they are elected to represent a canvassed view and not individual opinion.

The “Parent Class Representatives” meetings will provide a forum for frank discussion of issues and opportunities that pertain to that particular year group and section.

The “Parent Class Representatives” and The Heads of Section will promote opportunities to network with other parents of that year group, to provide a broad, balanced opinion on issues.

“Parent Class Representatives” will meet at least twice a year with the “Key Staff” responsible for that particular year group. Each meeting will be recorded by the school and published on the school’s website.

Social events either on or off the school campus will be encouraged.

Letters detailing this initiative are going out to parents, if you are interested please put your name down and hopefully we can begin to see the benefits of this partnership.
