Year Two visited Pizza Inn to conclude our Design Technology work on Pizzas.
It also linked with our Science topic on Healthy Eating, and Maths, as we collected data and made graphs to show the results.
In class we investigated the type of pizza that you could have by looking at menus. We discovered that there were different sizes of pizza, different bases and different toppings.
We made pizzas in school by making and kneading dough for the bases by hand – at Pizza Inn they have a large mixer to mix and knead the dough.
At Pizza Inn they grease the pans for the pizza so that the bases don’t stick. They put the base in the correct size pan then put on the toppings.
First the pizza sauce is spread on top of the base.
Then half of the cheese is put on.
Next the chosen toppings are placed on top of the cheese.
Finally the rest of the cheese is sprinkled over the toppings.
After that the pizzas are baked in a very hot, very large oven. They need a big oven at Pizza Inn because they have to cook a lot of pizzas. The oven at school is small, but it does get very hot so you have to be very careful.
Our pizzas were delicious!
