Be SunSmart

People of all skin types and of all ages need to protect their skin from the sun to reduce the risk of skin cancer.

Research reveals that exposure to the sun during childhood and adolescence significantly increases the risk of skin cancer in later life, so protecting young children is important.  Encouraging and modeling SunSmart behavior in your family is a way of reducing the long-term risk of skin cancer and developing SunSmart habits that become a way of life.

To ensure that all family members are SunSmart…..

SLIP on protective clothing with collars, longer style sleeves, skirts and pants.

SLOP on SPF30+ broad-spectrum sunscreen to exposed skin before going outdoors.

SLAP on a broad-brimmed, bucket or legionnaire style hat to protect the face, neck and ears.

WRAP on a pair of contoured sunglasses to protect your eyes.

Play, work or rest in shady places outdoors eg. under trees or sunshades.

Mimimise outdoor work, play and other activities during peak UV times, 11am to 3pm.

For further information on these or any other issues relating to the health of your child/children please call 330-0555 ext.2201/2202.
