Results

This page contains the results of the 2011 National Curriculum Tasks and Tests at Dhahran British Grammar School, together with details the IGCSE results of students to undertaking Cambridge University IGCSE programme and Edexcel examinations.

The National Tests

The test scores indicate what pupils have achieved in selected parts of the English, Mathematics and Science National Curriculum at the end of Key Stage 1 Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3.

The number of pupils who took the tests can be broken down as follows:

  • At the end of Key Stage 1 (Year 2) – 36 pupils
  • At the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6) – 44 pupils
  • At the end of Key Stage 3 (Year 9) – 23 pupils

Marking of the test

All Key Stage tests were marked and moderated internally following strict guidelines stipulated by the UK Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.

Interpreting the results

  • The UK National Curriculum standards were designed so that a typical pupil will move up approximately one level every two years.

For example, at Key Stage 2:

  • A typical pupil is expected to achieve Level 4
  • A pupil achieving Level 3 or below is performing less well than expected at the end of the Key Stage
  • A pupil achieving Level 5 or above is exceeding expectations at the end of the Key Stage.

The results tables are accompanied by information relating to the expected levels of achievement at  each Key Stage.

  • With the exception of Government targets for Level 4 English (80%) and Level 4 Mathematics (75%) at Key Stage 2, there are no quotas set in the UK for any of the National Curriculum Levels and there are no underlying assumptions about the proportion of pupils who should be at any particular level.

Expected Levels at the end of each Key Stage

The results of the UK National Curriculum Tasks and Tests are an essential part of the assessment policy at the Dhahran British Grammar School. The scores relate to levels on a nationally agreed scale and allow the school to reflect not only on it’s own progress over a period of time, but also to compare standards against those achieved in the UK.

The tables compare the National Test results of Dhahran British Grammar School against the UK National results over the last five years. The tables feature the percentage of children in each case who have achieved the expected level at the end of each Key Stage.

  • At Key Stage 1, the typical 7 year old pupil is expected to achieve Level 2
  • At Key Stage 2, the typical 11 year old pupil is expected to achieve Level 4
  • At Key Stage 3, the typical 14 year old pupil is expected to achieve Level 5/6

Main Findings

The results of the Dhahran British Grammar School reflect consistently high standards over the last five years.

  • In each Key Stage the majority of results are significantly better than the UK national averages both in 2011 and over the last six years.
  • At Key Stage 2 the Dhahran British Grammar School has comfortably exceeded targets set by the UK Minister for Education in English  and Mathematics where a target of 78% of students are  to achieve Level 4 has been set for 2011. This year 72% achieved this level in UK.
  • At Key Stage 3 the Dhahran British Grammar School has comfortably achieved over the last five years, targets set by the UK Minister for Education in English, Mathematics and Science.
