Nepal Adventure
18 students will spend 12 days in Nepal on an exciting, multi-activity adventure led by Mrs Prudden
Approximate dates: 11 - 22 February 2009
Applications are open to pupils from Years 7 to 11 and from pupils who are currently in Year 6 (2007/8 cohort). Year 11 students will only be allowed to go on the trip if they complete course work on time. Failure to meet coursework deadlines will lead to the cancellation of their place on the trip and this could mean loss of any payments made.
Cost: SR8,000*, includes all transportantion, meals, local guides, two teacher chaperons, bike hire, entrance fees, instructors, safety equipment, accommodation, insurance & visas. Additional costs may be incurred - clothing and backpack, spending money, vaccinations.
Payment schedule.
Deposit of SR1000 to be paid to the school office, together with the application form - by May 21st. This will be refunded if the applicant is not offered a place on the trip. It will not be refunded once a place has been offered and accepted by their parents.
2 further installments. SR3500 due September 10th, SR3500 due November 1.
Selection process
Students should complete the attached application form and return it to the school office. Places will be offered according to various factors including academic effort and behaviour, previous school trip experience, strength of the application form and progress in course work. Applicants should also be able to swim and ride a bike.
Itinerary
Day 1
Fly to Kathmandu. Nepali meal and cultural show.
Day 2
Early morning sight-seeing flight to Mt Everest. Rickshaw tour of Kathmandu. Walk through the medieval market area. Shopping.
Day 3
Drive by bus to Pokhara. Evening exploration
Days 4-8
5 day/4 night camping trek in the Annapurna region
Days 9-10
2 day white water rafting trip on the Trisuli river (river grades 1-3, suitable for beginners, full instruction/safey equipment provided). Evening return to Kathmandu.
Day 11
Mountain biking from Nangargot to Bhaktapur. Tour of Bhaktapur. Easy and off-road options are available.
Day 12
Return to KSA
*The cost of the trip may vary to factors outside our control (rate of US Dollar, fuel supplement flight etc.). Every effort will be made to keep the trip cost to the above figure.
