As you will be aware the demand for places for next year’s Pre Reception class has been so great that we have been looking in to the possibility of running a second class to cater for children not having siblings in the school at present. In order to give this serious consideration we have been discussing timings, logistical arrangements including transport to and from school, staffing arrangements and most importantly the quality of provision. As part of the discussion process we have asked for the views of staff and prospective parents during our recent Open Morning.
I am very grateful for the feedback received and understand the differing viewpoints whether it be from current families where places are guaranteed or new families trying to access the school for the first time. After due consideration it has been decided that for the 2009 / 2010 school year there will be one Pre Reception class operating in the same way, length of day etc to the current class. The underlying factor in this decision was that the quality of provision could not be maintained with two groups operating in the morning and afternoon as there were too many external factors that would impinge on the length of the sessions. We do realise that many families will be disappointed as it is likely that the one class will be made up almost entirely of siblings with very few opportunities for new children to join at this stage. Obviously we hope that many of the disappointed families will wish to be considered for a place in one of our three Reception classes the following year as has been the case this year.
The next step for us is that we need to know if you are still wishing to take up the place for your child in next year’s Pre Reception class. It is important that you let us know as soon as possible as we have number of children waiting to step in if places become available.
Please could you contact Mrs Lynn Perry on extension 2003 to inform us of your decision.
Many thanks for your cooperation during this process
Best regards
